Lip Nautic-Ski Reference circa 1960s
Lip is a French watch company founded in 1867. The Nautic-Ski was released in 1967 for the company's centenary, the Nautic-Ski was the first French diver's watch, waterproof to 200 meters and it was promoted at the 1968 Grenoble Winter Olympic Games. Larger variations followed in the 1970’s as the Super Nautic-Ski. All watches were intended to be performance watches as utilized a hi-tech in-house electro-mechanical movement (the caliber R184).
We are offering the 36mm first edition with proprietary Super Compressor case with dial-and-handset design pointing to the futuristic electronic technology. This is the grey variant with darker rotating inner bezel. Today it has both mid-century and atomic like flow.
When it comes to vintage pieces, condition and originality are key—especially the dial. Here is tritium has finely aged a crystalized honey—both hands and markers. Now the hands do charge up stronger and die out slower but this seems to be common for French watches of this era such as Yema. The case appears relatively unpolished the domed crystal has a rash but also appears original to the watch. The caseback stamps are feint but can be easily read with a loupe—serial is intact.
