Movado Calatrava circa 1950s

Movado—meaning "always in motion" in Esperanto—is renowned for its minimalist, Bauhaus-inspired Museum Watch designed in 1947. Originally a high-quality mechanical watchmaker, the company is now a fashion or “mall” brand. Perhaps best known for the Museum watch from 1947 which features a black dial with a single gold dot at 12 o'clock, symbolizing the sun at high noon. It was the first watch dial selected for the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) permanent collection.

This clean time only Calatrava style timepiece has a lot of presence with a chunky case framing a domed crystal and subtle dogleg lugs. Overall not damage or service history but healthy. Only note is a shadow on the dial where the hour hand was pointing to 10—this is likely due the watch being stored for a long period of time—hence excellent condition as well.
