Rolex Air King ref. 5500 circa 1970

The Air King is the perfect intersection where sports and luxury meet.  The “Air Series” was created to honor the RAF pilots of the Battle of Britain.  There was actually an Air-Lion, Air-Giant, and Air-Tiger but the King was King.

This reference 5500 tritium dial is framed in a smooth steel bezel which not only serves for extra presence but also compliments the very desirable classic look.  Hot tip: there are less and less of these out there as they are powered by the 1520 and 1530 caliber Rolex movement also in the early 4-digit Submariners

Overall, this one is in very good condition for its age.  Light signs of wear—minimal signs of polish. Service hands detected and some oxidation at bottom of dial. . While no service history, this still healthy.
