Rolex Cellini ref. 5115 in 18k in solid white gold circa 2000
Inspired by the craftsmanship of the Renaissance master, Rolex introduced the Cellini line in the late 1960s to serve as their premier collection of dedicated formal dress watches. The Cellini was Rolex's dedicated line of traditional dress watches, officially established in 1968 to focus on elegance and craftsmanship rather than the rugged utility of their "tool" watches. Not only does this track today with the over-abundance of sports watches but it also fits a modern aesthetic framed in a precious metal.
The Rolex Cellini ref. 5115 is a neo-vintage dress watch characterized by its elegant, "razor-thin" case designed for refined aesthetics. It is a criminally underrated watch like the Midas which has now become unattainable for most collectors. Is this next as the Cellini line has been replaced by the 1908? We think that the original is forever.
While no service service history, the timegrapher data clocks a healthy watch with extreme accuracy, high amplitude and a smooth wind—no condition notes except wear on caseback— an exemplar piece.
