Rolex Datejust Ghost ref. 1601 circa 1969 (212xxxx serial)
The Datejust is quintessential Rolex. Not only did the 1960-1970’s variations of this model come with zesty dials and midcentury font in the datewheel, but the dials also often don refined colors and patina.
This GHOST one has a super clean sheet-metal grey dial accented with almond colored tritium dial lume plots and original matching hands. Ghost dials not only have white text but it also disappears in the light when rotating around (see videos and evident in still shots as well). Our personal subjective option: this one has that “it” factor.
While service history is unknown, this on is keeping very accurate time on wrist and timegrapher. The case and bracelet show honest signs of wear and relatively no signs of polish and the case and bezel reflect such condition—18k white bezel looks original to the watch and looks like it might have been repaired at some point. The bracelet is still relatively tight and fully linked
