The Daytona is rooted in motorsports and racing—most notably in popular culture the 1963 Paul Newman model with caseback engraving “Drive Carefully Me.” Today, the Daytona almost transcends Rolex and is almost a tier and brand itself.
The Zenith component refers to the 4030 calibre movement but the details are all in the dial. An easy way to spot this is the running seconds hand at the 9 sub dial and the thinner hour marker. The last part, once seen cannot be unseen on other newer Daytonas. On this zenith Daytona, notice how the horizontal lines on the 9 o’clock sub-dial line up with the 9 marker. One the Rolex in-house movement it floats above. While this era of Rolex is not considered vintage yet, it is a future icon.
Overall, this one has no condition marks and appears to be professionally polished: maintains thicc lugs, stain and brushed finish is still crisp where it should be—minimal to no desk diver rash on clasp of polished center links. While no service history, this one appears to be running per factory specifications or close and it probably was recently serviced by a private watchmaker.
