Rolex GMT Master II “Fat Lady” Coke ref. 16760 circa 1986 sn#919xxxx
Coined the “Fat Lady” as the OG thicc case was implemented and likened to Italian film star Sophia Loren. It was produced from 1983-1988 and featured the new 3085 caliber movement with an independently adjustable 12-hour hand for true dual-time tracking sapphire crystal and aluminum “Coke” insert (red and black).
This era of transitional Rolex is quite collectible as it has a unique reference number, produced in a smaller window, and tells the story of the brand’s evolution.
Here we have a finely aged example with a spider dial and tritium hands, paired with a very sharp and thick case with minimal signs of polishing. The bezel insert also dons a sunkissed fade where the black portion is now a gun metal grey and the red has softened to a fiesta red similar to a Fender Stratocaster
While privately serviced in 2026, this one is smooth winding super accurate on wrist and timegrapher. Your experience may slightly vary. Note the color of hands are not a match with the markers but this is a transitional era and both tritium hands and markers are dead (dont lume up)
