Rolex GMT Master II “Fat Lady” Coke ref. 16760 circa 1987 sn# R54xxxx
Coined the “Fat Lady” as the OG thicc case was implemented and likened to Italian film star Sophia Loren. It was produced from 1983-1988 and featured the new 3085 caliber movement with an independently adjustable 12-hour hand for true dual-time tracking sapphire crystal and aluminum “Coke” insert (red and black).
This era of transitional Rolex is quite collectible as it has a unique reference number, produced in a smaller window, and tells the story of the brand’s evolution.
Here we have a fine example with the original dial hands and insert, but a perfectly refinished case: basically restored to look new but the character was preserved as the tritium plots are untouched almond hue, the aluminum insert has honest wear and a deep crimson red, and the dial has an even patina that looks like black lava rock.
While no service history, this one looks like it was serviced based on data and smooth winding. Your experience may slightly vary.
