Rolex Oyster Perpetual Bubbleback ref. 5015 circa 1960
Coined the “Bubbleback” due to the thicc domed caseback designed time house an early automatic movement with the perpetual full rotor. A collector piece indeed as bubblebacks tend to stay hiding in drawers and tight grips—especially when in excellent condition
This one is framed in a gold bezel framing matching alpha hands, applied markers and Arabic indices at 12-9-6-3, and corone with steel case and blue hands—it is not the original bracelet—but yes it loos really sharp. The steel case is still very thicc with chubby lugs that are factory drilled on the non-crown side for easy strap changes. While this dial is super clean, it was likely restored; often a good thing as radium is removed.
The original signed crown is intact but there is a skip hen winding about every full rotation clockwise—no skip counter—perphaps this is the way it is designed (certain oyster dates are similar). Overall a fine example aesthetically with no damage . No service history but the timegrapher data shows a healthy watch—just not consistent in all positions. It is keeping good time on wrist and timegrapher
