The Oyster Perpetual is quintessential Rolex. Not only has it maintained the same design language today, but it also comes in infinite variants— vintage offerings are often unique with no two alike. The “5-digit” vintage and Neo-vintage era are some of the best value Rolex as they maintain components that gracefully age paired with relatively modern movements with quickset date such as this OP. For those concerned with the case size, the Oyster framed in an engine-turned bezel and crispy bracelet have a huge presence and solid feel.
This specific Oyster has gilt accents and a dial that has patina that has aged and now looks like graphite schist with pyrite. Overall crisp shape with minimal signs of polish and wear—likely professionally and properly polished. They automatic quickset movement is keeping super time of wrist and shows timegrapher data similar to a serviced watch however there is not service history. The only notes are possibly service hands as they charge up differently— but this is a transitional era so possibly original to the watch. Lastly, the crown is a touch tight when manually winding but this is an automatic watch and all automatics should ideally be wound using the perpetual automatic rotor set in order to preserve the original crown and stem.
