Rolex Oysterdate ref. 6694 circa 1974 Gilt
The Oysterdate is one of the earliest and purest forms of Rolex. The design language from the oyster case to cyclops powered by a manual wind movement exhibit to core of the brand. Not only is is also a fantastic entry into Rolex but also mechanical watches.
This specific Oysterdate has a black burst dial with gilt font with original datewheel that reveals “open” 6 font. This one has all the details and charm. Lastly, the oyster case sports drilled lugs which enable easy strap changes for a strap monster of a watch.
Overall, the watch shows honest wear for its age, light signs of polish, and no damage or condition notes. We brought this one in for stem repair but it came out with a “half service”—meaning everything removed and touched got cleaned out and sealed—timegrapher shows the data that reflects a serviced movement.
