Rolex Oysterdate ref. 6694 Roulette circa 1966
The Oysterdate is one of the earliest and purest forms of Rolex: a design language from the oyster case to cyclops powered by a manual wind movement exhibit to core of the brand. Reference 6694 first launched in the 1960s and lasted through the 1980s. Not only is it a fantastic entry into Rolex but also mechanical watches.
This specific Oysterdate sports a fresh arctic while dial with original fading gilt hands and datewheel that reveals not only “open” 6 font but also a “Roulette” style where even numbers are red and odd are black. This one has all the details and charm. The no lume dial matches the no lume hands and it is extremely tough to tell is the dial is complete original as in untouched as the condition matches the case and there is will an oxidation spot in the coronet at 12. Lastly, the oyster case sports drilled lugs which enable easy strap changes for a strap monster of a watch—comes on period correct Rolex folded rivet oyster bracelet
Overall, the watch is excellent its age, light signs of polish no damage. While no service history the manual wind movement is keeping time and winding smoothly—perfect on time grapher and wrist.
