Rolex GMT Master Ghost ref. 16700 T-Serial 1996 with Extra inserts
The GMT one of the most historic and iconic watches that Rolex ever produced as its heritage is forever linked to a commission request by Pan American World Airways in the midcentury their pilots who needed a time tool for time zones. The GMT is the Crown’s most iconic sports watch. From midcentury aviation utility to the iconic colorways. The oem ghost grey insert is a cohesive pairing with the steel case and oyster bracelet. The faded Pepsi is also Rolex oem and the Coke is aftermarket
The GMT Master as opposed to the “Master II” is a thinner watch and the automatic 3175 calibre movement features an independent quickset date. So why the 16700? It is considered the “last gmt” and the end of an era born in 1988 and only lasting approximately until 1996 (the tritium era’s end) and 1999 luminova. It also houses the 3175 caliber automatic movement which enables seconds hacking and independent date change.
This one was privately serviced and running smoothly on wrist and timegrapher. the case show both light signs of wear and light polish. Note, the bezel is difficult to turn but does indeed turn—easier counters clockwise. Easiest with faded pepsi
