Straumann Diver circa 1970s
The "Straumann" name in watchmaking is tied directly to Dr. Reinhard Straumann, a metallurgist who specialized in watch components and famously patented new types of alloys for balance springs (hairsprings) in 1930s-1950s Switzerland.
The chunky steel case similar to Clinton divers of the era and is ETA based so the workhorse movement tracks with the robust case. The bezel is subtle, friction, and bi-directional. While no service history, this one is very healthy on Timegrapher and wrist. Overall, this one gives us Gilligan’s Island and 1960-70s American television appeal from surf to science fiction.
