Universal Geneve Polerouter 14k gold Day-Date

An iconic Genta design made to withstand the magnetic poles of Earth while in flight. Originally launched in 1954 as the "Polarouter," it was created to commemorate Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) trans-polar flights from Europe to the U.S. West Coast.

While there is buzz surrounding the recent acquisition of UG by Breitling, nothing beats vintage. The “Clapton” and the Polerouter are double dragon leading the brand but the Polerouter is especially iconic. This appears specific variant appears to be an uncommon United States market time piece—14k as opposed to 18k gold supports this. It also featured a day-date complication where wind-shield wiper method changes date and 24hr rotation for day and a signed crown paired with straight geometric brutalist lugs.

While no service history, the movement is clean and running well and smoothly winding. The case shows minimal wear and polish for its age—super thicc— as caseback is still easily legible for serial—the only note is caseback damage from errant caseback removal. As seen, it needs a specific proprietary tool but we got it off with a friction ball.
