Vulcain Chronograph ref. 1376 Valjoux Cal. 7733
Vulcain is best known for their Swiss made alarm watch the “Cricket”, which was worn by a few American Presidents in the early and midcentury. Here we have a racing dial chronograph reference 1376 with a 30-minute chronograph register.
To most collectors, the Vulcain looks like an Omega Speedmaster Racing Michael Schumacher Limited Edition mixed with early vintage yachting watched at first glance. Regardless, it is undeniably cool on its own. This piece is circa 1960-70s and a bigger 37mm variant whereas other examples are 35mm and do not have the racing minute track on the perimeter.
While no service history, the timegrapher shows data of an extremely healthy watch with high amplitude. The chronograph starts, stops and resets like it should but the top pusher at 2 looks a touch smaller and not as snug as the bottom one—however, it looks like the original one based on wear—and the bottom one is probably a replacement. Overall, there are honest signs of wear throughout but no damage on case and light marks on acrylic crystal—some lume is missing from the minute hand but it appears original.
